This is simply because the mic picks up the mechanism sound in the tape compartment. How loud is this sound and does it ruin videos. Is it noticeable???.. I am traveling to italy, and i also want this camera for loved ones occassions..will this sound be noticeable and annoying or will it be unheard do to outdoor noises, and talking?….i am not preparing to film anything that silent but if i do will the noise take over and make the video difficult to watch???plz help thx…

I am in the marke for a new camcorder, my old 1 is huge and not quite practical. Actually interested in the Hitachi Hybrids but would actually like some honest critiques of this camera.

I was looking at the exact same camera, but everyone told me that it had poor image high quality. I liked the hybrid feature, but then realized I didn’t want to spend the funds purchasing those stupid dvds anyway (3 for $ 15 and every single only holds 20 mins), compared to harddrive holding at least 7 hours. I’m opting to get solely harddrive and purchase JVC’s $ 150 portable burner. That way if i am ever traveling and want more space, just have to burn to some low cost DVD’s that I have anyway. I’m thinking about the Sony DCR-SR200 and the Panasonic SDR-H200 instead (the Panasonic has 3CCD which is very excellent supposedly). Just my thoughts…
